Bingo is a very popular bingo numbers game among the young and old alike. However, very few people have any idea of the origin or evolution of the game. The origin of the game of Bingo dates from the middle of the sixteenth century.
Around the same time, unification of Italy also took place in 1530. Soon after unification, Italy introduced a weekly National Lottery system- Lo Giuoco del Lotto d'Italia, held every Saturday. Lotto or Bingo
This lottery system became popular as Le Lotto and the French took a great liking to the game. It was around 1778 that this game started gaining popularity among the French. However, a French Lotto lover introduced many changes into the game, which are almost same as the present-day version of the game of Bingo.
The French style of the game of Le Lotto was a card with three horizontal rows and nine vertical columns. These rows and columns had numbers and blank spaces at random. Columns were in sets of ten numbers each. They were as 1-10, 11-20, 21-30, and so on until 90.
